October Contest For Free Advertising – How Many Entries Do You Have?
Blogging, Scattered Thoughts October 17th, 2007If you’ve actually visited this blog sometime in October, and not just read all the posts through a feed reader, you probably know that I am currently running a contest to give away many advertising spots for the month of November. The details were posted in the September recap post and on the contests page which can be accessed via the advertising link in the main navigation or through the banner ad in the header. The purpose of this post is to give those of you who have entered (either knowingly or unknowingly) an idea of how many entries you have and to generate more interest for all of the new readers.
There are four ways that any person can accumulate entries in this contest. They can review this blog, mention this contest, link to this blog in a new post, or simply leave a comment on this blog. Here are the entry totals I have so far. If you feel you should be on this list, or that you should have more entries, you can send me an email.
Current Contest Standings As Of October 17th, 7:15 PM EST
Note: Only one link per unique mention is counted. However, a review can contain a contest mention and credit for one link. Likewise, a contest mention can contain credit for one link other than to the contest post.
MacroKing.com: one review, one contest mention, and one link = 30 entries
Dave from RetiredPay.com: one comment, one review, and one link = 21 entries
Stephane from TheWebmasterCafe.net: two comments and two links = 12 entries
Hock from Marketing-Tools-Review.com: three comments and one link = 8 entries
WarriorBlog aka HonestKnowledge.com: two comments and one link = 7 entries

And 59 others who left comments.
Still 14 Day Left To Gain Entries
This contest is going to be run like the “NBA Draft Lottery.” Just because you have the most amount of entries does not mean you are necessarily going to win. It just means you have a better chance of winning than any other individual entrant. At the end of October, I will draw winning *entries* at random and award the prize packages (free advertising) to whoever is associated with the given entry. Once your name is drawn, you will be taken out of the entry pool.
So anyways, the prizes are, in my opinion, pretty good and the requirements are pretty easy. Take a look at the contest page and see for yourself. If you want to win some free advertising on this blog, make sure you get in as many entries as you can to increase your chances. Advertising space cannot be purchased, so this is currently your only chance to advertise on DerekBeau.com.

I left a comment too, don’t forget my comment!
Oh and I mean OTHER than this comment. So I guess I’ve now left two comments…?
Rock on Derek…

Yep, under a different name, that’s why I didn’t notice. If your single entry from your comment wins, you will definitely get the credit for it.

Hi Derek,
Thanks for reminding me about your contest. I had actually forgotten about it but it’s nice to see that I have quite a few entries.
You always post great stuff so I would link to you anyway even if you don’t have a contest. It’ll just be icing on the cake if I win one of your ad spots.

Hey Derek,
you are doing a great job on your blog, both from a content production standpoint and from a buzz generation one.
The free software you just released together with this contest are two excellent traffic generating ideas.
Wishing you the best.

Derek, I just discovered your blog last week and I’m happy that I didn’t leapfrog over it.
Good luck to all the contest entries
