Got StumbledUpon Thanks To TheAnand
Scattered Thoughts June 25th, 2007If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I have heard of StumbleUpon many times but had never used it before today. TheAnand left a comment on my blog post about creating niche blogs in bulk that he had stumbled the article. This comment was left at 4:44 pm.
Now, I don’t know exactly how StumbleUpon works, but I am assuming that the submission got a few “I like it” thumbs up because from 5:14 pm to 6:31 pm, DerekBeau.com received an extra 117 unique visitors from it (according to Google Analytics). I have heard that StumbleUpon traffic isn’t very high quality, but each visitor viewed an average of 1.90 pages (not too bad). Take a look at the screenshot below, which has been edited to remove irrelevant information:

I know 117 visitors isn’t a huge amount of traffic, but I was surprised to see that it came from only one stumble review. Hopefully it will have resulted in some subscribers to the RSS feed or at least a few repeat visitors.
So anyways, I really just wanted to make this post to give a thanks and a link to Anand’s blog for stumbling my article. But to everyone else, feel free to use the social bookmarking links at the end of each article as much as you like… you never know, I may be thanking some of you in a future post ![]()

If even one of those 117 visitors subscribes to your feed, then it’s all worth it.

Wow, thats a nice effect I created. So, next time we hang out in some place, you are paying my lunch!
SU is petty powerful for quick traffic and for high unique visitors for some site. You can also get some good Stumblers in digitalpoint forums.

Hey Anand - judging from your about page, we live pretty far away, but if we ever do end up hanging out somewhere, I’ll buy you a drink or a sandwich or something
