Whenever you’re creating content, it must have some sort of an objective. Sometimes you just want to inform the reader, sometimes you want to entertain the reader, sometimes you want to teach the reader, and sometimes you want to persuade the reader. Not all writers are equally skilled in all of these areas, so if you are going to outsource writing, make sure you clearly define the objective.

Content Writing

If you’re looking to get some writing done for your content website or blog, you can simply hire someone who enjoys writing about the particular topic. In this case, you will probably want to search for a new provider that has an expertise in the given niche. All you are looking for here is some quality, on topic content.

Copy Writing

This, however, is not the case with affiliate marketing. The goal of your affiliate marketing content is not to inform or entertain the reader; it is to get them to take action. Hiring a generic writer for your sales copy is most definitely a bad idea. They don’t know (and probably don’t care) about writing content that sells.

Instead, you want to search for a writer than has an expertise in writing sales copy… a copywriter. If you don’t, you will likely end up with either a lot of extra work to do, or a bad converting campaign. If you communicate correctly with your copywriter (making them aware of the entire scope and purpose of the content), you will be able to practically copy and paste their words into your website’s design.

So, the next time you think about outsourcing content creation, make sure you define its objective. Don’t buy generic content for your affiliate marketing pre-sells and don’t buy sales copy for general content.
